A writer's costume can consist of many things - clothes that you wear, an attitude you put on, a swagger or gait that you adopt, a tone of voice or facial expresion. What outward appearances define a persona as a "writer"?
For me, it is primarily the ink stain I usually develop on the pinky of my right hand. I write holding the pen between my middle and ring finger (rather than the index and middle finger as you are taught to do in grade school). Also, when I write I drag my hand across the pag…

I am being transferred to a Walgreens in Kenosha in about a week so I will get to work in the same town I live in. Yay for shorter commutes! And less gas!
The other side-effect of this is that I will suddenly have more freetime on my hands. Instead of wasting almost two hours of my life (okay maybe 1 1/2 hours) every day I work, it will only be a short 15-20 minute drive. This means I will have more time to write and do what I love to do, as well as be more accessible to hang out with people *i…

I posted this entry on my blog at www.3monthnovel.blogspot.com yesterday, when I was in a bit of a mood. I had decided that all hope was lost and I should just give up while I was ahead. That I should not even bother trying to write because it just wasn't worth it. Of course, I followed that up with working on my novel and then totally forgot about my vow not to write. Me not writing? If that ever really happened, I'd have to check my very existence!
Anyways, for shits and giggles, here is my a…

In my search to understand the vegetarian mind...I myself am not vegetarian...I came across an interesting quote. This one is from Emanual Swedenborg, a Swedish scientist, mystic, philosopher and theologian:
Meat-eating is
"the most vivid symbol of our fall from grace and the source of all evil."
I guess I'm pure evil, then. I still like to eat meat.

This candle bra will light a feminist fire
under the Martha Stewarts of the world
imprisoned by their kitchens and dirty dishes.
This candle bra will ignite
enlightening self-conscious teenagers
plastic surgery is not the answer but confidence.
This candle bra will kindle a flame
under women removing the tear stained rosy glasses
showing that they do not deserve to be beaten, molested, and raped.
This candle bra will create an inferno
in the hearts of all women fighting persecution just because…

My cigarette formed varicose veins
and burnt holes in my jeans
as cherries fell from the tree of life ending
roads forked and i spooned
in a comfortable daze of security
and locked doors
paint fumes filled nostril hairs
as I try to express emotion not felt
the long nights started here

The leaves are ugly now
they grew in beauty
and in glory they changed
shades of fire lined the hillsides
but they knew this.
Their vanity not fulfilled
they wanted the world to know
each and every one of their wonders
picked up be the wind they blew into cities
and were beautiful
for awhile
till crushed bruised starving
dying.
Their vanity did not lead them to think
"How can we survive with out the tree?"
in their narcissistic blindness
the tree served no purpose
"It is not as beautiful as I."

If you could ask an artist anything, what would you ask them?
I have a 15-questions 'interview' that i've put together, but I'm interested to see if there's any kind of question that I might not have thought about. If it's okay, I'm not going to list any of the questions, that i've thought about. Because I don't want to sway what you might be thinking of.
